Rakalj is a small town on the west bank of the Raša-Arsia bay, on the east coast of Istria, 12 km northeast of Marciana and less than 30 km from Pula. It was initially (1190) known for traditional Istrian pottery and for sailors and fishermen.
It is worth visiting the ancient Baroque parish church built in the 18th century. Besides that, remaining in the center, the ethnographic collections in the house of the scientist and writer Mijo Mirkovic (Mate Balota) are also very attractive.
The ruins of Old Rakalj are located near the sea, on the top of a hill looking over the Raška-Arsia bay, next to the church of the Holy Agneze dating back to the year 1495.
The place and the surroundings are rich in flora and fauna, which is why these are nice places for walking and hunting, bike and horse riding, motorcicling, climbing, floating, snorking, scoobadiving, windsurfing and of course swimming(3 km of gorgeous beaches, away from the crouds. hot sun and new places to explore, gives the freedom to every single person to find his/her personal paradise.
